MAGIC APPRAISAL & AUCTION ROADSHOW
July 15, 2011  -  3:00 p.m.

You're invited to bring your magic to Pittsburgh, PA and have it appraised for FREE!! The MAGIC APPRAISAL & AUCTION ROADSHOW is a featured event at  the S.A.M. National Conference being held in Pittsburgh, PA July 13-16, 2011.  

Marc DeSouza and Gabe Fajuri host an entertaining show of magic appraisals similar to TVs popular "ANTIQUE ROADSHOW and a magic auction of vintage and collectible items. WATCH the show . . . or BE the show!  Bring vintage or collectible props, posters, books, or unique magic items to the convention and a panel of magic experts will research and determine its value at no cost to you. IT'S FREE!!  You will also have the option to sell, or not sell your magic at auction.

FIVE WAYS TO PARTICIPATE:
1.       Watch the show and learn the history and value of magic
2.       Bid and buy magic at the auction
3.       Bring an item to be appraised FOR FREE
4.       Bring an item to be auctioned
5.       Bring an item to be appraised and sold at auction
 
GENERAL RULES:

·        Bring up to three magic items to the convention to be appraised and/or auctioned.  Register the item(s) by completing and submitting the ITEM SUBMISSION FORM available at the convention registration desk. 

·         If you have any questions about the qualifications of your magic item(s), please contact Dan Rodriguez at : Dan@SAMmagiccenter.com with your question, a brief description and photo of the item(s) to be appraised and, or, auctioned.

·         Each convention attendee may submit up to three magic-related items for auction and/or appraisal estimate. Additional submissions may be accepted with event committee approval.

·         Submitted magic props, posters, books and unique items should be rare, vintage, collectible, and/or have historical significance.

·         Common, inexpensive magic items should not be submitted for appraisal or auction and may be rejected by the event committee.

·         The experts need sufficient time to review all submitted items, so please submit your appraisal item(s) no later than 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14th and auction items by 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15th, unless prior arrangements have been made.

·        
Beginning on Wednesday, July 13th, a secure locked storage room at the hotel will be available for participants to store items that will be appraised and/or auctioned. The convention registration desk will have information about where to bring your items to our secure over night holding area. Special arrangements can be made if you are unable to leave your item(s) over night.

·         The owner of each magic item submitted at the event is solely liable and responsible for any loss or damage of such items.

·         The producer, event committee, appraisers, presenters and auctioneers shall not be held liable or responsible for any actual or potential financial loss resulting from any appraisal or auctioned item at this event.

·         All appraisal and auction items must be claimed immediately after the event. Unclaimed items after 10:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15th become the property of the S.A.M. Magic Center Foundation.

·         The event committee and onstage presenters reserve the right to exclude any item from being featured on the show for any reason.

APPRAISAL RULES:

·         There is no cost to submit items for appraisal. However, only convention registrants may participate.

·         A panel of magic experts will review, research and submit a written opinion of each item and include an estimated value, time permitting.

·         All valuations, appraisals and estimates are only the opinion of the experts and should not be considered an actual value or certified appraisal; therefore, the experts, S.A.M. and S.A.M. Magic Center Foundation are not responsible for any financial loss resulting from any subsequent sale of any item.  

·         The owners of each item must be present at the Magic Roadshow and be available and willing to be interviewed on stage about their items (Similar to TVs Antique Roadshow). 

·         The valuations of each item will be revealed for the first time on stage at the Magic Roadshow on Friday, July 15th. At that time, the owner of each appraised item will have the opportunity to immediately offer that item up for auction.

·         The expert’s written opinions and valuations will be available for pick up for all appraised items immediately after the event, including items not featured on the show.
 

AUCTION RULES:

·         All buyers must have a convention badge and a bidder number. All buyers and sellers must be registered to attend the convention.

·         The S.A.M. Magic Center Foundation will receive a minimum 15% seller’s premium from the sale of each item.  

·         Seller has the option to donate a larger seller’s premium to the foundation.

·         Seller’s premium may be a tax-deductable contribution. Check with your tax advisor for clarification in your jurisdiction.

·        
Lots
are permitted and are defined as a group of related items sold together from the same seller. Lots will be considered as one item.

·         Each seller must provide two copies of a complete listing detailing the item or lot to be auctioned.

·         Items with an estimated value greater than $200 can have a reserve price.

·         Each seller should provide a full and accurate representation of the item, such as missing instructions, repairs, wear and tear, etc. Otherwise it shall be assumed that all items are complete and in working order.

·         S.A.M. and S.A.M. Magic Center Foundation are NOT responsible for condition of items or misrepresentations whether based on information from the seller or the onstage presenters observations.

·         Auction “staff” may bid. Sellers or their family members may not bid on their own items.

·         Bidding will be in whole dollar or higher increments as the auctioneer deems appropriate.

·         Buyer payments must be made immediately following the Magic Roadshow event.

·         Cash, check (payable to S.A.M. Magic Center Foundation), VISA, MC, and DISCOVER are accepted as payment. Cash or Check is preferred.

·         Sellers are paid after buyers have settled their accounts.

·         All transaction settlements should be completed by Friday night, July 15th at 5:30 pm.
